Crispy Onion Rings are a delicious treat that can be easily prepared at home with the right ingredients and techniques using sweet onions and a well-prepared batter will ensure delicious results enjoy them fresh for the best experience to suit your dietary needs and taste preferences.
Peel the onions and cut them into rings about 1 cm wide.
Separate the large onion rings, and discard or set aside the smaller rings for another use.
In one bowl, place 2 tablespoons of flour. In another bowl, pour 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs.
In a third bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper powder. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water, stirring constantly until you have a smooth, lump-free batter.
Dredge each onion ring first in the flour, ensuring a light, even coating.
Dip the floured onion ring into the batter, letting any excess drip off.
Lastly, cover the onion ring with panko breadcrumbs and gently press to stick.
In a large frying pan, heat the oil over a medium-high flame.
Once the oil is hot, add the coated onion rings in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry for about 7 minutes, or until the onion rings are golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through cooking.
