Description

The tuna melt is a comfort food classic that combines the flavor of delicious tuna salad with melted cheese, all sandwiched between toasted slices of bread whether you prefer a classic dinner-style dish or a healthier version with avocado and whole grain bread, the key is to balance the flavors and textures for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients
  • 180 grams Tuna, drained
  • 1/2 Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Regular mayonnaise
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional)
  • 2 Slices of sourdough bread
  • Butter for spreading
  • 2 Slices of cheddar cheese
Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, finely chopped onion, lemon juice, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and sugar (if desired). Mix everything together until well-combined

  2. Heat a pan over medium heat. While the pan is heating up, spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Feel free to spread butter on both sides if you prefer

  3. Once the pan is hot, place the tuna mixture onto one side of the bread. Allow it to cook until the bottom side is nicely browned, then flip it over to cook the other side. Once cooked, set the tuna aside

  4. In the same pan, place the slices of bread with the unbuttered side facing down. Toast them until they turn golden brown. Flip the bread slices over

  5. Now, it's time to assemble the Tuna Melt! Place the cooked tuna on one slice of bread, then top it with the two slices of cheddar cheese

  6. Allow the cheese to melt over the tuna by covering the pan for a few minutes. Once the cheese has melted, carefully place the other slice of bread on top

  7. Remove the Tuna Melt from the pan and transfer it to a serving plate. Cut it in half, if desired, and enjoy your delightful creation

  8. There you have it, a scrumptious Tuna Melt sandwich made with love and simplicity. Happy cooking
